Self-clinching nuts provide load bearing threads in thin sheets. With high push-out and torque-out resistance, clinch nuts are used where sheets are too thin for normal tapping operations and installed by placing them in correctly sized holes in sheets and applying a parallel squeezing force, usually with a press. Applying pressure causes the parent material to flow into the specially designed under head configuration offering a load bearing and torque resistant joint.
