Fastener Sales & Business Development Manager

We are creating a new position for a full-time Fastener Sales & Business Development Manager, securing new business, and researching and generating new customer contacts. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a long-established and respected, ISO quality registered, nationwide supplier of standard and bespoke fasteners to businesses ranging from small enterprises to blue chip companies in most major industries. 

Key responsibilities:

  • This is a field-based sales and business development role covering the South and Midlands.  Reporting to the Sales Director, your objective is to hit or exceed sales and margin targets and, in addition, ensure customers remain committed partners to the business.
  • Identify and obtain new customers and increase profitable sales with designated existing customers.
  • Develop new business opportunities with new and existing customers and collect any valuable market information or products the company can supply (including pricing etc).
  • Ensure customers receive outstanding customer support and all their expectations and requirements are met, ensuring the business remains their preferred choice of supplier for fasteners.
  • Process quotations and chase them up with customers, ensuring they are correctly entered on our system, or ensure they are passed to the Branch Manager for processing.
  • Ensure all orders received from customers are processed and acknowledged with the support of the internal sales team.
  • Provide a weekly submission on current project and potential new opportunities, including possible barriers to securing new business.
  • Support sales colleagues to help them deliver excellent customer service and support for your nominated accounts.
  • Work to procedures and processes in line with our relevant ISO Standards certification and compliance alongside the Data Protection Act.
  • Carry out visits to key customers as required maintain a professional and corporate image at all times.
  • Management of aged debt when required.
  • Carry out other duties that may be required.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Must have established experience in selling industrial fixings and fasteners, nuts, washers, bolts, screws and springs, hand tools and accessories to demanding customers, in a sales manager, field sales, business development manager or similar role.
  • Be able to hit the ground running and secure new business quickly, is new business focused and have built up a wealth of knowledge and contacts in the industry.
  • Experience in selling into manufacturing, engineering, distributors and end users.
  • Must excel in customer relationship building, ideally with existing contacts in the manufacturing and general industries.
  • Meticulous attention to detail required and used to effectively managing customer led projects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate well with others of all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Proven negotiation skills and good commercial expertise, self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be honest, loyal, organised, autonomous, able to multi-task and prioritise to get results, and looking for a long-term opportunity.
  • Strong use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook (intermediate level minimum requirement).
  • Hold a clean valid UK driving licence and have Authorisation to work in the UK.

This is a permanent vacancy (after completion of 3 months trial period) with competitive salary package, dependent on experience, contributory pension scheme and 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
