Thread forming screws are used to form threads during insertion in metal, to eliminate the need for thread tapping as a separate process.

Commonly known as taptites, Tritap® screws, or thread rolling screws, they are manufactured from case hardened steel. Taptites have a “trilobular” thread pattern, meaning a shape that is “triangle-round”. This type of thread pattern reduces friction as the thread is being formed during insertion and adds resistance to vibration.

Tapping of the hole is not required before insertion as the thread forming screws tap their own thread during assembly.
