Typically used in stainless steel and other soft metals and create a larger diameter of pressure during fastener installation. The larger diameter helps to spead our pressure over the material preventing pull through. Zinc plated steel rivet backup washers are corrosion resistant with a shiny finish.
Always use the same material for rivet and backup washer.
