Environment & Net Zero Policy
Mission Statement
Alfast Fixings & Fasteners Ltd recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements.
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods, with regular review points, to achieve net-zero by 2035. We encourage customers, suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors to do the same.
Responsibility
The Managing Director is responsible for ensuring that the environmental and net-zero policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
Policy Aims
- To comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements
- To continually improve and monitor environmental performance
- To continually improve and reduce environmental impacts
- To incorporate environmental factors into business decisions
- To increase employee awareness
- To outline the commitment Alfast has to being sustainable.
Paper
- We will minimise the use of paper in the office where we can
- We will reduce packaging as much as possible
- We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products where possible
- We will reuse and recycle all paper where possible.
Energy and Water
- We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible
- Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off where possible when not in use
- Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind
- The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be considered when purchasing.
Office Supplies
- We will evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase
- We will favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products where possible
- We will reuse and recycle everything we are able to.
Transportation
- We will promote the use of travel alternatives such as email or phone/video conferencing
- We will make additional efforts to accommodate the needs of those using public transport or bicycles
- We will continually improve route planning of deliveries to customers made via our vehicles to reduce net carbon footprint
- We will favour ‘green’ vehicles where possible and maintain them to ensure ongoing efficiency.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Cleaning materials used will be as environmentally friendly as possible
- Materials used in office refurbishment will be environmentally friendly as possible
- We will only use licensed and appropriate organisations in disposal of waste.
Monitoring and Improvement
- We will comply with all relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., commit towards a net zero carbon or carbon positive policy)
- We will continually improve and monitor environmental performance
- We will continually improve and reduce environmental impacts
- We will incorporate environmental factors into business decisions
- We will continually look at new areas for improvement with our organisation
- We will review our environmental policy annually to check it complies with all current regulations.
Culture
- We will involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for improved performance
- We will review this policy at least once annually in consultation with staff and update where necessary
- We will work with customers, suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors to improve their own environmental performance
- We will use local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 emissions.
Changes to This Policy
This policy will be reviewed annually or when there is a change in circumstances, in work practices or the introduction of new legislation. Copies of this policy are to be available to all Company employees and other interested parties.
